ABOUT VINCENT POWELL
Vincent M. Powell tells stories that move people on screens, in sanctuaries, in lecture halls, and from the stage.
He earned his MFA at USC's School of Cinematic Arts, sharpening his gifts of storytelling and learning more about the business of filmmaking. A two-time Telly Award–winning director, screenwriter and producer, Vincent has spent two decades at the intersection of film, faith and culture. Through 7972 Films, the studio he runs with his wife and producing partner, Ebony, he develops a wide range of mixed-media work, including feature and short films, documentaries and live productions.

Vincent has served as creative director for live productions, concerts, and some of the nation's largest congregations, shaping weekly experiences that reached millions of households. He truly holds a rare gift: making a message land in any room. His client and brand work includes Disney, Nickelodeon, BET and The ShadeRoom, and he has been at the helm of large-scale live events including the AAFCA Awards, the funeral for Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, and events for the City of Houston and Texas Southern University.

For the past five years he has served as a professor at Texas Southern University, where he teaches film directing, producing and media studies. He is deeply committed to equipping the next generation of storytellers — helping students, creatives and communicators find the story only they can tell, and tell it with power. From the Barbara Jordan Memorial Lecture to the Greater Houston Arts Forum to Comicpalooza, Vincent is the uncommon voice who can break down media for artists, executives, students or believers, and leave each one certain he was speaking directly to them.
